Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts)

Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts) works with artists, curators, creative producers, writers and the public to explore the diversity of society. It generates ideas for debate and a greater understanding of the complexities of the contemporary world through exhibitions, events, Learning and digital initiatives, and research projects. Iniva programmes at Rivington Place, off-site as well as virtually.

Past exhibitions at Rivington Place include solo shows by Zineb Sedira, NS Harsha, Hew Locke and Donald Rodney, as well group exhibitions 'States of Exchange' and the cross-disciplinary group show 'Whose Map is it?' in which international artists challenged conventional approaches to mapping.

Founded in 1994, Iniva is committed to working with emerging as well as established artists, and prior to Rivington Place opening in 2007 Iniva collaborated with other organisations eg the ICA, Hayward Gallery and MOMA in New York. Past projects have involved Yinka Shonibare, Sonia Boyce and Omer Fast amongst other artists. Iniva continues to collaborate and programme off-site questioning existing hierarchies and challenging global perceptions
