This dynamic multi-voiced exhibition is selected by curators, artists and filmmakers. Painting, sculpture, graphics and film reflect the times we live in and changes to the social and cultural landscape since Iniva was founded 15 years ago.

The Inivators (Iniva’s Youth Advisory Board) in collaboration with artist Yara El-Sherbini programme their own radical response to the Progress Reports exhibition with art interventions and events.

Ansuman Biswas
Artist Ansuman Biswas’ installation in the Stuart Hall Library incorporates light boxes with kinetic elements, geometric shapes echo the lines and angles of the building and bookshelves.

 

The Progress Reports exhibition explores interpretations of ‘cultural diversity’ and changing attitudes.

 

Manick Govinda from Artsadmin, Sally Lai from the Chinese Arts Centre, and artist Zarina Bhimji have selected artists.

 

Oreet Ashery and Larissa Sansour's bold mixture of art, politics, games, sci-fi and storytelling rebels against the stereotypes of the Middle East. Ashery is from Israel and Sansour from Palestine. A new graphic work 'Nonel and Vovel's Inferno' goes on display in the vast window.

 

Sanford Biggers’ sculptures blend contemporary hip-hop expressions with Eastern Spiritualism, here he presents a breakdance floor modelled on a Buddhist mandala.

 

Naomii Kashiwagi's work looks at inter-relationships between art, music and language, she uses pianos and wind-up gramophones as drawing instruments, see a performance on 6 February at 3.30pm.

 

Radhika Khimji's cut-out figures are defined by the architectural space. She is interested in how artists are critically received in the West and a rapidly developing society.
