Activist and writer Meena Menon discusses the keyword 'union' in this Keywords Lecture
Keywords takes its title from Raymond Williams' seminal book Keywords: a Vocabulary of Culture and Society first published in 1976, which looks at how the meaning of words change as the context in which they are used changes about them. In this lecture writer and activist Meena Menon will explore the term 'union'.
Meena Menon currently works for an Asian policy research think tank, engaged in research and advocacy. She is also active with the Girni Kamgar Sangharsh Samiti and Rojgar Hakka Samiti- organisations working in the textile area in Mumbai. She has been an activist for 33 years. She also co-authored a book titled One Hundred Years, One Hundred Voices- the mill workers of Girangaon- an oral history (Seagull Books, 2004, in Marathi by Mauj Prakashan, 2007).
